Frank Steyaert was born at Dendermonde, in Belgium, in 1953. His work is linked to the Nouvelle Céramique international movement which emerged in the 1970s, characterised in particular by a realistic sculptural approach. A multidisciplinary artist with a vast technical background, he is a ceramicist and a creator of jewels, prints, furniture, and monumental terracotta pieces integrated in architectural projects. These less known aspects came under the spotlight for the first time with the various versions of the ceramic shipwrecks for which he has become famous.
Discover the brilliant retrospective of his work at Keramis from 23rd September to 21st January 2017.
