Brussels Capital of Europe

Since being elevated to the rank of world-class city, change is in the air in Brussels.
However, the decision-makers, the inhabitants and even the Belgian architects do not seem to have fully grasped the portent of this change and today do not seem to be gearing themselves up to take on the huge challenge ahead.

Having put together the Europe of the Single Currency, work now needs to start on cementing together the European Union through a Europe of Culture. And Brussels has a historical role to play in this project. The identity of the European city has been built on respect and awareness of the past, but also on creativity and imagination. Europe can no longer sit back and accept a capital without a blueprint, evolving haphazardly in every direction.
