René Greich

Ingénieur architecte

Apart from enlightening the personality and the journey of a remarkable figure of the history of contemporary construction in Belgium, the reader will find in this book the analysis of the methodologies and the innovations developed by René Greisch. The amplitude of the outlook allows to replace that uncommon man in the evolution of architecture and engineering during the second half of the 20th century, as well as to mesure the directions that he gave it.

René Greisch, as a civil engineer graduated from Liège University, continues his academic cursus with a formation in architecture that he achieves in 1995. Four years later, he creates his own study where he will, for more than 40 years, propose diversified projects marked by a care for the technical and formal perfection.
Art works figure among his various interests and activities, field where his skills quickly gain a visibility on a european wide scale. Alone or part of a team, he imagines houses, but mostly collective equipments such as the Trifacultaire building at the Liège University, its new Faculty of Applied Sciences, the multifunctional Hall of Mons or the installations of the beg (one of the five societies working with the Greisch study) in the scientific park of Sart Tilman, which appear as a true manifesto.
As far as many of his architect fellows are concerned, among whom Bruno Albert, Roger Bastin, Bob Van Reeth or Charles Vandenhove, René Greisch is a consultant who is both expert and inventive: the quality and the audacity of the tecnical solutions he proposes for their projects have made him a reference.
